Hello!
Four years ago, I was a high school senior in the Menomonee Falls Business Academy and serving as President of Future Business Leaders of America... After seven years of business classes and FBLA awards, I would have never expected myself to study anything but marketing in college. Even so, my switch to journalism was one of the greatest decisions I've made in my college career, and opens up so many opportunities for me in the sports industry! Read more about my journey in sports below.
Why sports?
Growing up, I played on softball and golf teams. While I wasn't the star athlete, what kept me motivated year after year was the incredible community I found in sports. During my junior and senior years of high school, I managed the boys' golf team, traveling with coaches and players to photograph and create content at stunning courses across southeastern Wisconsin. This experience was an honor and deepened my appreciation for the camaraderie among Wisconsin golfers.

My passion for golf led to a job at a golf course, where I set up and served at numerous company golf outings over the next two years. Although I was working in the sports industry, it wasn't until I attended the Milwaukee Bucks Deer District in the summer of 2021 that I realized I could build a career in this field. The energy and community at these events were addictive. I showed up to downtown Milwaukee hours before each game, made friends with fellow fans, and secured front-row spots, allowing me to observe sports industry professionals in action.

I carried this passion for basketball into my college career, ensuring I had season tickets from my freshman year. I consistently arrived early and was often the first in line. In March 2023, I applied for the AreaRED committee on a whim, not knowing it would shape my future career. Selected for the 2022-2023 committee, I fell in love with the organization and was promoted to Women's Basketball Director for my junior year. In this role, I collaborated with my committee and the Badgers' athletic department to facilitate student promotions. I'm proud to have contributed to the most-attended Women's Basketball Game at the Kohl Center in December 2023, a significant achievement for women's sports.

Now, as the Men's Basketball Director of AreaRED, I lead the charge for each game, brainstorming, designing, and executing giveaways, creating student section newspapers, inflating hundreds of balloons, generating social media content, curating playlists for the DJ, and energizing the crowd during time-outs. This role comes with high expectations from the athletic department, given the profitable nature of Men's Basketball. I'm proud of how this season has unfolded and eagerly anticipate the post-season.

Beyond AreaRED, I've completed two internships in the sports industry. As a Gameday Operations & Entertainment Intern for the Lakeshore Chinooks, a team of collegiate baseball players in the Northwoods League, I managed various responsibilities throughout the pre-game and nine innings, including setting up and monitoring food and hospitality areas, executing in-game promotions, facilitating post-game meals, supervising meet-and-greets and mascot appearances, and laundering team uniforms. Following this, I interned with the Madison Capitols Hockey Club, where I coordinated in-game entertainment and worked in the sound booth to control music, lights, and the video board according to the game script.

Through these experiences, I've witnessed firsthand the power of connection and community in sports. I aim to harness this power to create community-building content and events that impact fans of all ages.
